The provision of services to crane operators and owners of lifting equipment lies at the core of our business. Our aim is to offer service which is of a consistent and reliable quality at all times.

All our operating procedures are accredited to the quality standard BS EN ISO 9001:2008

Thorough Examination and Test
William Hook carries out thorough examinations in accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). The company also has considerable experience of load testing cranes, and can fulfil this requirement of LOLER where no condition monitoring equipment is fitted to the crane.

A comprehensive service is offered to customers, with a full record keeping service included. Examinations and tests may be carried out at customers’ premises or at our Motherwell depot, whichever is more convenient.

Examination and testing is carried out in accordance with British Standard 7121 Part 2, which is the code of practice recommended by LOLER.

Maintenance, Repair and Refurbishment

Our planned maintenance approach can be tailored to suit your operational needs. This can be coupled to regular thorough examination of cranes and lifting accessories, the examinations being the verification of good operating practice and adequate maintenance procedures.

Even so, breakdowns occur, and we offer a prompt service to customers in order to minimise downtime when the unexpected happens.

On a larger scale, complete refurbishment of cranes can be undertaken, offering a low-cost alternative to the purchase of a new crane.

Safe Load Indicators

Safe load indicators are essential in all crane operations where loads can be lifted at varying radii.

Our service engineers have extensive experience of most types of indicators including Loadwise and Wylie, and can carry out installation, calibration and overhauls.

All load indicators are required to undergo an annual calibration check during or prior to the annual thorough examination on the crane.

Test Weight Hire

We have a quantity of test weights which are available for hire. Around 100 tonnes are normally in stock, with unit weights from 25 kg up to 10,000 kg.
